Apply and maintain Maltese permanent residence without committing to a minimum annual physical stay in Malta, while keeping the option to relocate when needed.

Malta Permanent Residence - Investment Options

The Malta Permanent Residence Programme (MPRP) offers two flexible property routes, allowing applicants to choose between purchasing qualifying real estate in Malta or leasing qualifying real estate for the required period.

Both routes involve government and administrative fees, together with the applicable contribution and donation requirements. This gives eligible US nationals and their families a clear, structured and long-term route to securing permanent residence in Malta - one of Europe’s most attractive Mediterranean jurisdictions.

Eligibility for Malta Residency

Applicants must be fit and proper persons, pass due diligence checks and hold a clean criminal record. Eligible family members may be included in one application.

Applicants must show financial self-sufficiency by holding at least €500,000 in capital, including €150,000 in financial assets. Alternatively, they may qualify with €650,000 in capital, including at least €75,000 in financial assets.

Malta Permanent Residence in 4-9 months

  • Applications may be prepared, submitted and completed without visiting Malta. A brief visit is only required if applicants choose to provide biometrics for a residence card or relocate to Malta.
